Johan Candert is a Swedish documentary film maker. He has a background as a top athlete (alpine skiing) and as an internationally recognized instructor in scuba diving using mixed gas as well as cave-diving. Johan co-founded Deep Sea productions together with Carl Douglas in 1997 when they were the first divers to dive the famous ”Champagne Wreck” in Finland.

Johan got his start in film by chance when he was forced to take over the camera from another diver during a cave-dive in the famed Blue Holes of Bahamas. Initially focusing on underwater camera-work, Johan later moved onto land and worked in many different types of projects. During the past decade he has exclusively focused on producing high-quality documentary films. Forever curious about a multitude of subjects, Johan moves easily between subjects such as sports, history, science as well as diving.

10 years as documentary film maker, 4 years at Swedish Television (news and sports department), 3 years Hot Vision and Agaton. Masters Degree in documentary filmmaking from Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Art 2007.
